Introduction:

I decide to apply the creative fluency to one of my projects from my English Language Arts class. The assignment was an Independent Novel Study, the task for the assignment was to create a journal with multiple entries. For the assignment, I decided to read The Hate U Give and complete my project using this novel.

Identify:

I applied this step by reading the criteria and figuring out what I needed to complete for the assignment. The criteria stated that I needed to have at least 25 entries and the final copy needed to be in the format of a journal. What I needed to be successful in this assignment would be to meet the criteria, this would include completing at least 3 entries a week that are at about 150 words, having the final copy be in a journal format, and making sure that I put a lot of effort and depth into complete the entries. I think that the challenges with the assignment are displaying the entries in an organized way. Another challenge would be making sure that I put a lot of effort into every assignment, and that I don’t leave it to the last minute.

Inspire:

I applied this step by viewing multiple examples online and from my teacher. I noticed that a lot of the examples had images and used a table of contents to organize the entries. I also noticed that each entry was on a different page, and a lot of these assignments were being put into duotangs. I also searched online and found that many people had used a blog to complete the assignment. I also found that some people used a bound journal, to put the entries in.

Interpolate:

I applied this step by finding which examples were similar and different. I noticed that a lot of the examples had used a duotang, and included a table of contents, and that font was easy to read. I noticed that less of the assignments included a bound journal and online blogs. I discovered that what made the assignment successful was having an organized display and adding background research into the entries.

Imagine:

I used this step to decide how I was going to present the assignment. I decided that I needed to have an organized display. To be able to do this I would add a table of contents, I would display the entries in a duotang, and I would add a title page at the beginning. I also decided that I would need to have a font style and size that was large and legible, I decided that the title of the entry would be size 15, and the contents of the entry would be size 13, for both of these I decided to use font style Calibri (body). I added background research into the entries. After I made these decisions I started to assemble the journal.

Inspect:

I applied this step when I completed the project and reflected on it. I was able to use these steps correctly and meet the criteria. I made sure to complete 3 assignments a week each one was at 150 words, I had a total of 25 entries, I made sure that I included background research and went into depth when I was writing the entry, and I displayed the entries in a journal format. I think that if I were to complete this project again in the future that I would try to create a bound journal and include more entries that had a drawing since I only had a few. I think that I was able to use this process successfully and that it made my project better.
