Other Evidence

Here are some small things that I do to help improve my local community or strengthen my relationship with my community:

Tutoring

  • I dedicate around an hour with helping and teaching my little sister her homework. Even though her homework is easy, sometimes she is easily distracted so I have to make sure she understands her work and completes it on time.
  • Also helping my family friend’s children with any big project or complicated assignments
  • I also help my little cousins who are in middle school with their writing assignments by editing them and giving them back feedback

Babysitting

  • I am often babysitting my little sister whenever my parents are busy
  • I also babysit my little cousins when their parents are not home.
  • This is because my family knows I am quite good at interacting with kids, so they rely on me for that task.

Helping out neighbour

  • When there was a snowstorm over winter break, my elderly neighbour couldn’t leave his house, so I would gather his mail for him and deliver it to him.
  • I would also put out his garbage
  • If he needed any technological help, such as setting up his computer and phone, or even tasks like opening a pdf, I would also help with that.

Translating

  • One of my parent’s friends recently moved to Canada. My task then included being their translator where I would help translate their documents.
  • I also helped them adapt to Canada by teaching them how the Skytrain routes work and how to sign up for different things (and other tedious things).
