Election Article

The File above will lead you to a Newspaper Article that I wrote in Humanities 9, about the divisive federal election of 2019. The reason I chose to post this particular piece of work, is because I felt that it was one of the more unique projects we have accomplished. I handed it in a couple of weeks ago, and ultimately received an A for my exceptional work. In reality, I had very high hopes for this assignment and was shooting for an A+, but I’m satisfied with the grade that I got. An A is an A, after all.

I am proud of this assignment because I was able to gather a lot of information on the election, and look into a variety of different stories to write about. I was also good at using the Newspaper Template, and adding onto it to make it appear more professional. I also enjoy reading about politics in my spare time, so this assignment felt like it hit home for me and my passions.

Honestly, I thought this project was fairly easy. If anything, the primary challenge that I faced was trying to keep my writing for each box short enough so that it would fit- I quickly found that I could get lost while writing about politics, for there are so many different points of view/perspectives; how could I fit that into just a hundred words? Eventually, after sufficient proofreading and editing, I was able to shorten my text enough to meet the criteria whilst maintaining a solid amount of information to be graded.

I would likely add more details that would make it look more like a real Newspaper article, and perhaps even combine some of my text boxes so that I could offer more information about each topic. I feel that I should have made the text box about the Alberta separatist movement feel less brief. This is much more superficial, but I would also try to get my Newspaper Article assignment done earlier, because I left it until the night before it was due. Leaving things until the last minute is not something that I would normally do, so this was a one-off.
