(Unfortunately I haven’t gotten my hands on mine yet, but will be updating soon with a better picture. For now here is my draft, which is basically the same thing except lower quality and much less detailed.)

a) I am presenting my silhouette project for my visual arts 9 class. Though named the “silhouette painting”, it was much more than just the silhouette. In the criteria it was said there had to be good use of contrast, relations between colours and a study of objects and beings before actually making the painting itself. This was due probably a little over two weeks ago from now, and was worked on over the course of I would say another two. I did mine specifically like this because I was going for a bit of a watercolour approach, though with the paints being used I had to make some tweaks. The actual setting is Toronto, and you can see that with the CN tower in the back. My goal was to meet the criteria, but overall leave a little piece of me embedded into the painting.

b) To be honest, at first I didn’t know what type of direction my painting was going for, and there were a lot of mistakes I had to fix along the way (which is why digital art has become a very tempting option, and everyday I am moving closer and closer towards it), but overall I think it gave me more patience, and sparked new creativity from within, and that made me proud.

c) A lot of things were last minute, like the little highlights or flecks in the water, and I did have to further my study midway because I wasn’t quite sure how to make the water stand out more. There was a lot of moment where I felt like giving up, but I had to finish it and push through all the little hardships. It made me happy that I could overcome the challenges on the way.

d) If I did it again in the future, I would try and make it look more realistic as that, I think, is one of the best styles I can achieve when drawing by pencil, but when painting I have greater difficulty. However this is not to say I don’t like other styles, it’s just for this piece I think a realistic style is what I was going for.
