My Plan for Screen Time

Health ·        I will commit 2 hours and 40 minutes/week to focus on my health

·        This time is made up of two sessions of 50-minute taekwondo classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings and 1 hour on Sunday dedicated to walking with my mother

Education ·        I will commit 2 hours and 45 minutes/week to focus on my education

·        This time is made up by practicing my instrument every weekday (Monday – Friday) after school for 30 minutes and at least 15 minutes a week of composing my own music on my computer (which is productive screen time as it helps advance my musical knowledge)

Social Bonds ·        I will commit 1 hour and 30 minutes/week (2 hours and 30 minutes/week pre-pandemic) to focus on my social bonds

·        This time is made up by calling my half-sisters who live in another household over the phone for 1 hour and 30 minutes (and pre-pandemic I would hang out with friends on most weekends for 1 hour or more)

Stopping Rules

School ·        I will turn my phone off during class so it will be difficult turning it back on

·        I will store my phone in my backpack so I cannot get it easily

Home ·        After an hour of consumer time, I will switch over to practicing my instruments or composing my own music on my computer

·        I will turn off my phone an hour before bed and leave it in the kitchen when I go to sleep
