Reflection 1 – My Goals for This Year

1. Family and Friends

A. I would like to be more communicative with my family by not using electronics or other items when not recommended or mandatory such as family meals, vacations, and more by next semester.

I chose this goal because according to society, soon I will have to live independently separate from family, so I may as well enjoy the time before that happens.

B. I would like to create a few friends one at a time at Pinetree by the next year.

I chose this goal because as of writing this at the beginning of ninth grade, Pinetree Secondary is a totally new and different school with entirely different people than any of my previous ones, and achieving this goal with at least make me a little more comfortable with this new environment. I specifically chose this goal for next year because making friends or socializing in general is one of the most difficult things for me.

C. I would like to try to respond more to friends online when possible by the next month.

I chose this goal because it creates healthier relationships and better connections. Not responding could be perceived as rude and unthoughtful.

2. Education

A. I would like to improve or at least show effort doing so in English; specifically word choice, fluency, and transition words by the next year by reading books such as novels or using flashcards when necessary.

I chose this goal because English and Language Arts is one of the subjects in school I need improvement in. I lack in the creativity department and that has definitely shown in past essays. If I even get at least decent and meet at least most expectations, I will be very satisfied.

B. I would like to participate more in social discussions in class which include examples such as raising hands or group discussions or at least try to do so by next month.

As said in Goal 1C, socializing is difficult for me and may take a little time to be comfortable talking much in my classes. Getting step-by-step to this goal and eventually reaching it will be a huge relief for me.

C. I would like to be more organized with schoolwork with papers, pop quizzes, and more (not online) by next week.

Excluding online, the organization with school such as binders or an agenda may need some improvement. I will achieve this goal by adding some separaters and using planners to make different assignments from different classes more clear. I’ll possibly try to use a schedule outside school as well.

3. Health

A. I would like to get more sleep, such as one to two hours more by next month.

Sleep is exceptionally important and affects school performance. Although it does improve your academic, social, and mental representation, it can interfere with your homework and what you do afterschool. This goal will take some organization to do. I specifically set this objective to next month to work with Goal 2C, as that is for next week, as it also involves

B. I would like to increase my consumption of water by 4 cups by next year.

You may be wondering why I put this goal as the one for next year. This is because what I currently drink daily is critically low, at only 3 to 4 cups of water a day. Although this has helped with not needing to go to the washroom during class, it makes me dangerously dehydrated. Doubling your drinking amount isn’t simple.

C.  I would like to expand my all-time average step count (3000) by 200 by next week.

You may think increasing a step count by 200 is nothing. But keep in mind, this is an all-time average, which means an average of all of the steps I made since I have had an iPhone which was 4 years ago, including extra organization with school. Add on top of that, lately it has been decreasing. I plan to do this by walking around the block as many times as I can until I must catch up with homework.
