As we approach 2025, it’s the perfect time to set goals. This year, I’m aiming for an 80% average in school. I’ve never really pushed myself academically until grade 8, when something suddenly clicked. Out of nowhere, I started getting 70s in math, which was a big improvement for me. By the end of the year, I was scoring mid to high 90s in everything, especially in science. My parents were incredibly proud, and it felt great knowing they saw my potential.
But this year has been more challenging. The material is harder, and despite putting in the same effort, I’ve been struggling with math, getting high 60s. When my parents see these grades, they wonder if I’m not trying as hard as I did last year, which can be frustrating. However, I’ve noticed that my grades in science have been improving again, and while my parents are proud of that, it’s not the same level of excitement as last year.
Outside of school, I have other goals I’m working on too. My mom thinks I might have low iron because I’ve been experiencing a lot of the symptoms. She’s especially concerned because I’ve had low iron before, and she knows how it affects me. She wants me to get a blood test to check, but I really hate blood tests. Honestly, they’re one of the worst things ever. Instead of getting the blood test, I’ve been trying to eat more iron-rich meals, like adding spinach, beans, and other iron-rich foods to my diet. If I can stick to these goals, both in school and with my health, I think this could be a great year.
