  • “I listen to others well and speak when it is my turn”: I demonstrated this during a group project where I actively listened to my group members’ ideas and suggestions before contributing my own.
  • “I can understand information given to me and show what I know by telling, writing it down or drawing it out in a way another person can understand easily”: I explained a difficult concept to a classmate by using a visual aid and breaking it down into simpler terms.
  • “I can find information when I need or want it and present it clearly”: I researched a topic for a presentation and was able to present the information clearly and concisely.

COLLABORATION:

  • “I participate in group activities and do my share to achieve our goals”: I worked collaboratively with my group on a class project and made sure to complete my assigned tasks on time.
  • “I can share my ideas and try to connect them with others’ ideas”: During a brainstorming session, I shared my ideas with the group and built on other people’s ideas to come up with a comprehensive plan.
  • “I can help resolve conflicts and challenges as they arise”: When a disagreement arose within my group, I mediated the situation by actively listening to both sides and finding a compromise that everyone was satisfied with.

THINKING:

  • “I get ideas from other people’s ideas, my interests or my environment”: I was inspired to write a poem based on a conversation I had with a friend.
  • “I can ask questions and gather information”: During a research project, I asked my teacher and librarian for help finding reputable sources.
  • “I can establish goals and connect my learning to my goals, experiences and efforts”: I set a goal to improve my grades in a certain subject and made a study plan to achieve it.

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL:

  • “I understand that who I am comes from what happened to me before, my family, my community, and my culture”: I reflected on my personal experiences and how they have shaped my beliefs and values.
  • “I can celebrate my work and successes and ask for help when needed”: I felt proud of myself for achieving a high score on a difficult assignment, and also recognized when I needed help from a teacher to clarify a concept.
  • “I am a positive member of my classroom, community and/or the environment”: I participated in a school-wide fundraiser and volunteered my time to help clean up a local park.
