COURSE GOALS ASSIGNMENT
- Learning Objective
By the end of this year’s Leadership course, I hope to build ability to lead with understanding, communicate effectively, and manage group projects efficiently. Specifically, I want to learn how to apply different leadership styles depending on team, improve my confidence in public speaking, and master the process of organizing an event from start to finish. These objectives are important to me because I hold several leadership roles at Pinetree, such as the Grad Council executive and these requires a lot of collaboration, organization, and communication are essential. I will try to understand both the positive and negative aspects of leadership and this will help me continue developing into a leader who not only guides others but also cheers and encourages my peers.
- Application of Knowledge
I plan to apply the knowledge and skills I gain from this course to my current and future leadership positions someday I will need. For example, the event planning and communication skills will directly support my ability to organize events like fundraisers for the ACP Club (club I am running this year at school) or volunteer initiatives with the hospice community. Even beyond school, these skills will be crucial because I want to pursue a career in healthcare, therefore the teamwork, problem solving skills and empathy are crucial. I think especially in the health care field, strong leadership can decide the difference between disorder and teamwork. I want to be the kind of person who helps create precision and compassion and understanding in high pressured environments. This course will provide me knowledge and strategies to turn the leadership concepts into practical and real world hands on actions.
- Personal Growth
This course will help me grow not just as a leader, but as a person. I expect to become more self aware of my strengths and limitations and to learn how to manage stress while staying organized and focused. Working closely with others will make my teamwork and communication abilities stronger. Also, actively participating and stepping out in the leadership events and other events will boost my confidence when speaking in front of larger groups. I also hope to become a more reflective leader who listens to everyone carefully, considers diverse perspectives from many different people, and using critical thinking to make fair and thoughtful and reasonable decisions. Ultimately, I want to continue building a leadership style based on honesty, empathy, and my dedication to help others.
- Challenges and Strategies
One challenge I anticipate is balancing my leadership commitments with academic responsibilities, since I am also involved in several extracurricular clubs and volunteer organizations. To overcome this problem, I will try to use time management tools like calendars and checklists and set priorities each week. I acknowledge assigning tasks effectively when leading group projects is important. Another challenge may be managing group conflicts or stress during large events, which might happen when people with different perspectives try to collaborate. (It did not happen last year in leadership due to excellent teamwork and collaboration among people.) In these cases, I am planning to apply what I learn about communication and active listening to resolve issues calmly and supportively. Also, I believe seeking feedback from peers and teachers will also help me continuously improve my leadership style and stay accountable to my goals. By approaching challenges with organized manner, flexibility, and a positive mindset to collaborate, I believe I can make the most of this course and grow as both a leader and as a mature individual. Conclusion:
I learned a lot from Leadership 11 so I hope to continue developing my skills even further to become a better and a more confident person each day this year in Leadership 12. Through this course, I aim to build and grow my ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with others, and take initiative in both school and community settings. I believe that continuing to challenge myself and apply what I’ve learned will make me grow not only as a leader but also as an individual who makes a positive impact on those around me.
