Reflection 1 – My Goals for This Year

Family & Friends

  • I want to make more friends and be more social. I am currently trying my best to talk more/louder because I tend to talk quietly and its embarrassing when people ask me to repeat myself. I also need to work on my stuttering because I always stutter even on the simplest things and I don’t know why that happens. I’ve made a few friends already, which is good! I think I’m off to a great start.
  • I want to hang out with my non school friends more, because I miss them a lot and I havent really seen them a lot since the summer. I need to make more plans with them.
  • I want to be more friendly! I feel like I often give off the wrong impression to people because I’m kind of quiet, but I’m really talkative, I’m just shy. I’ll do this by just complimenting people more (which I’m actively working on!!) and by smiling at people more.

Education

  • I want to get at least a proficient in every subject. I’ll do this by continuing to do my best work in school. 🙂
  • I would like to get better at typing! I’ll do this by doing typing speed tests daily until I get faster. My current record is 34 wpm which isn’t terrible but I could do better. My goal is 50-70 wpm!
  • I want to continue improving at playing my saxophone because I have some concerts coming up soon in band, and I need to catch up before then. I also need to learn how to sight-read sheet music because for months I’ve been just writing down the notes. My goal is to learn by the end of October.

Health

  • I need to get better at running because I can run for maybe 5 minutes before gassing out, and that’s not good. I want to be able to run around the field near my house at least 3 times, if not more, by the end of this semester.
  • I would like to get stronger upper body muscles because my arms always shake when I try to pick up heavy objects, and it’s embarrassing. I can do this by going to the gym with my Mom and lifting weights with her.
  • I want to improve my posture, because I’m always slouching, and it’s important to have good posture when playing the saxophone. Standing straight also makes you look more confident. I’ll do this by making sure to just sit straighter in general, or do certain exercises that help with posture.
  • I want to drink more water and eat healthier. I haven’t been drinking enough water lately, so this is something I should work on, considering how important it is for your body. I also want to eat healthier because it makes me feel good in general.
