FEBRUARY Event – Grade 10 Day Casino-Themed Event
Event Date: 15th February 2025
I assisted in the Grade 10 Day Casino-based activity by coordinating and conducting various games. I was responsible for the event area setup, informing participants on the game rules, and ensuring the event process went on smoothly. I also ensured effective communication between varied teams and guided students who knew nothing about playing the casino games. My focus was on Communication, which was one of the course goals such as clear communication, teamwork, and listening. I met with the planning committee before the event to discuss the event design and organization, with ideas on how to improve communication of the game rules. I also helped to create instructions for the games so that they would be easy to understand. During the event, I explained the rules of various games to players so they understood how to play in an easy and courteous manner. I worked with other organizers to handle any issues and maintain lines of communication open during the event. After the event, I participated in a debrief with the team to go over what had gone well and how we might improve next time. For evidence, I explained some rules to a game to students and conveyed them effectively by being definite in the directions. Lastly, I encouraged shy students to play a game by explaining to them how easy it was and welcoming them in, which was an instance of my ability to adapt my message to suit various people.
