šŸŽ¬ April Blog: Lights, Leadership, and Last-Minute Lessons!

šŸŽ¬ April Blog: Stars, Sweat & Satisfaction! 🌟

April brought the vibes—and a whole lot of responsibility—as I stepped into the role of point person for our ā€œMovie Under the Starsā€ event alongside Tara and Jana! šŸæāœØ

At first, I was super excited. Movie night? Under the stars? Count me in! But plot twist: I originally thought the event was on a Friday… and then found out it was actually on a Thursday—the same night as my LSI & SI courses! 😬 I was honestly crushed. I’d put so much effort into this event already, and finding out I couldn’t be there was heartbreaking. But leadership means adapting—and I chose to lean in rather than back out. I had a chat with Mr. Mac, and we agreed that I was in charge of most of the prep work.

šŸ› ļø Prep, Plan, and Push Through! Even though I couldn’t be there on the night-of, I took on a huge role in the lead-up. I basically lived in prep mode! From daily check-ins on Instagram to lunch meetings with Tara and Jana, I made sure no detail got left behind (or tried my best too). A lot of people underestimated just how much time and effort it takes to plan an event like this. We were still selling tickets the day before! It was kind of chaotic at times, and it didn’t always go smoothly—but we kept pushing through. We communicated with Mr. Mac, re-strategized our setup, and got marketing rolling even when it felt like we were racing the clock. It was stressful, but also super rewarding. šŸ’„

šŸŽÆ Theme Connection: Project Planning, Self-Awareness & Communication

This event challenged all parts of me as a leader—from staying organized and flexible, to being patient with the process. It directly hit key leadership competencies like:

āœ… Project Planning:

  • Took ownership of setting up sales systems, organizing roles, and working with others to problem-solve last-minute issues.

  • Managed time (and stress!) while balancing school, leadership, and my LSI/SI courses.

āœ… Self-Awareness & Personal Leadership:

  • I had to let go of the ā€œfunā€ part (being at the actual event) and still keep showing up. That was hard.

  • It made me realize leadership isn’t about being in the spotlight—it’s about building the foundation so others can shine too.

āœ… Public Relations & Communication:

  • I used public speaking for daily announcements and helped create a eye-catching board and reels to promote the event!
  • Communicated regularly with my co-leads, marketing, and Mr. Mac—even when things got hectic.

Even more than that, I had to stay calm when things weren’t going smoothly. Selling tickets last-minute, realizing how close we were cutting timelines—it taught me to be flexible, quick on my feet, and focused on problem-solving. We learned a lot about time management and how important it is to start early and stay consistent.

šŸ’” Missing the Night: I’m honestly still upset I couldn’t be there. Watching videos and seeing everyone have fun made me proud—but also made me wish I could’ve been part of that moment in person. It was tough. But in a way, it made me realize that being a leader isn’t just about showing up for the big moments—it’s about all the work you put in beforehand to make those moments happen.

šŸŽ‰ Final Thoughts: Stars, Sweat & Satisfaction This event showed me just how much goes into planning something from the ground up—and how important it is to work as a team, communicate clearly, and stay positive even when things get hectic. It wasn’t perfect, but it was REAL. And honestly? That’s what made it special. šŸŒŒšŸ’¼

I missed the movie, but I didn’t miss my moment to lead. And that’s what counts. šŸ’–

Can’t wait to see what May brings! šŸŒ·šŸŽ¢
