December Event – Talent Show

Event Date: 12/20/24

Event Participation:
I participated in the talent show event by helping with preparation, performing my role as part of the security team, and ensuring the event ran smoothly. My main responsibility during the event was to manage the main cafeteria doors along with another team member. I let people in and out during the event and eventually locked the doors when required.

Curricular Competency:
The curricular competency I focused on was Understand and use effective decision-making skills.

How It Aligns with My Course Goals:

  • Developed decision-making skills by working with a partner to decide whether or not to let people into the event.
  • Practiced teamwork through effective communication and collaboration in security.
  • Demonstrated responsibility by managing crowd control and ensuring the safety and organization of the event.

Actions Taken:

Before the Event:

  • Attended pre-event meetings to prepare for the talent show and understand my responsibilities.
  • Discussed security arrangements to ensure the event would be organized and safe.
  • Coordinated with my team member to decide how we would manage the main cafeteria doors effectively.

During the Event:

  • Managed the main cafeteria doors by letting people in and out as needed, maintaining order throughout the event.
  • Used effective decision-making skills with my partner to assess when it was appropriate to let people in or out, ensuring a smooth flow of attendees.

After the Event:

  • After the event, I let out the remaining crowd and made sure the area was empty before locking the doors.
