Event Date: April 16, 2025
Event Participation:
I helped with several parts of Grade 11 Day. Before the event, I attended planning meetings and helped sell tickets by setting up and managing the ticket table. I also went to a final meeting the day before the event where I was told my exact role. On the day of the event, I arrived early, walked around offering help where needed, and once the food and drink finally arrived, I took charge of the food station by helping to set it up, then handing out chicken to students. After the event was over, I helped clean up extra boxes and cans and brought equipment back upstairs to the storage room.
Curricular Competency:
Understand and use effective decision-making skills
This competency aligns with my course goals because:
-
I followed through with my responsibilities independently.
-
I made decisions quickly and adapted to changing needs.
-
I stayed organized while switching between tasks as needed.
Actions Taken:
-
Before the event: I attended planning meetings and a final meeting the day before to confirm my role. I helped sell tickets by setting up the poster board and table, checking in and out the cash box, and taking everything down.
-
During the event: I helped others where needed before the food arrived. Then I led the food station by handing out chicken and keeping things running smoothly.
-
After the event: I cleaned up leftover boxes and cans and helped carry equipment back upstairs to the storage room.
Evidence:
-
Example 1: I managed the ticket sales station and cash box.
This shows I was trusted with responsibility and stayed organized with money and setup. -
Example 2: I made sure to carefully listen to everything said at all meetings.
This shows I was active, aware of my role, and made sure I was ready. -
Example 3: On the event day, I helped others with any of their own problems, helped with the food station, and cleaned up after.
This shows I made decisions to support the team and stayed committed until the end.
