November Event
November Event – Parent-Teacher Meeting on November 22nd.
Event Participation: Briefly describe your involvement from start to finish.
As soon as the team’s channel was created, I kept up with updates and notifications to make sure I didn’t miss any important information. A few days later a form was sent out asking where we would like to be stationed. I attended the only meeting on Wednesday where we were assigned roles and basically summarized the whole event. The Parent-Teacher Meeting on November 22nd was a day for parents and teachers to converse about their child’s education. My role was to stand in the foyer and help guide parents to their class as well as assist the information booth. I welcomed parents, navigated their way to the right classrooms, and helped make use of the elevator. Even though we had a few mishaps, including lack of helpers, miscommunication with some of the team members, etc. We adapted and made sure parents had an easy time going from classroom to classroom without any problems.
Curricular Competency: · “Work as an effective team member.”
This competency aligns with my course goal by focusing on:
Adapting to needs for efficiency: During the parent-teacher interviews, I demonstrated adaptability by guiding parents in the foyer to assisting at the information booth when it was less busy. This shift in roles ensured that I remained productive and supported the event. Adapting to team needs is an important skill in effective teamwork, as it allows for greater efficiency in achieving shared goals.
Contributing to a positive and supportive environment: While helping parents to their classrooms, I maintained a friendly and approachable attitude, ensuring that they felt welcomed and comfortable navigating the school. Later when it was slower, at the information booth, I got to meet new members and connected with them. By creating a positive experience for parents, I contributed to the team’s goal of making the event run smoothly while building strong connections between parents and team members.
Developing coordination and communication abilities: Working in two distinct roles during the event required effective communication and coordination with my team. Whether guiding parents to their classrooms or answering questions at the information booth, I collaborated with other team members to ensure no confusion and consistent support. These experiences helped build my ability to work closely with others, a key component of being an effective team member.
Actions Taken:
Before the Event:
In preparation for the parent-teacher interviews, I ensured I fully understood my responsibilities and familiarized myself with the layout of the school to confidently direct parents to the correct classrooms. I attended a quick meeting led by Vy, where we were given stickers for what languages we speak with our names on them, reviewed the event schedule and layout, and received maps of the school. I started wandering around the foyer with an approachable demeanor, ready to assist my parents. Right when the event started, I had a rush of parents approach me asking where each classroom was, I either located them to their location or brought them to where they needed to be.
During the Event:
At the start of the event, I positioned myself in the foyer to greet parents and guide them to their assigned classrooms. For confused parents, I approached them asking them if they needed help or where to go. I maintained a welcoming attitude, providing clear and concise directions to ensure parents felt comfortable. When the foyer had no parents coming in anymore, I adapted to the changing needs of the event by helping the information booth with Shaan and Katie. Working collaboratively with the team at the booth, I continued to support the parents while ensuring the event ran smoothly and efficiently. When we were able to have our break, I subbed in for Shaan and Katie so that they could eat their pizza, then they did the same for me when it was my turn.
After the Event:
Once the interviews ended, all the members came to the foyer to take a group photo. After, I stayed to help with the cleanup and reorganization of the foyer. I assisted in collecting materials, tidying the space, and ensuring everything was returned to its proper place. By following through on my responsibilities until the end, I contributed to the overall success of the event.
Evidence:
Example 1: I greeted parents in the foyer and guided them to their classrooms during the parent-teacher interview, ensuring that they felt welcomed and confident navigating the school. I also had responsibility for the elevator key because one group of parents needed to use it. This example demonstrates my competency in being an effective team member by showing how I contributed to the team’s shared goal of creating a positive experience for parents
Example 2: When the flow of parents slowed down, I transitioned to the information booth to help them, as well as get to know them. I believe working as an efficient team member is getting to know the people you’re working with. I had a great time getting to know Shaan and Katie, while also assisting parents at the information booth. This example shows my willingness to take on new responsibilities to support the team. By stepping in, I ensure that I remained a valuable contributor to the event, which aligns with the goal of being an effective and reliable team member.
Example 3: At the end of the event, I stayed to assist with cleanup, helping to reorganize the foyer and the information booth, making sure all the materials were put away properly and ready to use for the next day. We took a group photo and were dismissed. This example highlights my commitment to the team’s success. By following through on post-event responsibilities, I demonstrated my dedication to completing tasks collaboratively and supporting the team until the event was fully finished.

October Event- Photobooth A
Event Participation: Briefly describe your involvement from start to finish.
For the Halloween event in October, I contributed as part of the team running Photobooth A. My role included both designing and setting up the booth’s decorations to fit the Halloween vibe. Our group collaborated to bring the booth to life by blowing up balloons, creating spider decorations, and designing a festive Halloween sign. I personally worked on crafting the border for the sign and helped cut out spiders. Although my club meetings sometimes conflicted with the decoration designing at lunch, I tried to attend as many meetings as possible. On the day of the event, I assisted in setting up the booth and took photos for students using their phones and cameras. After the event, I stayed to help with the teardown of the photobooth.
Curricular competency: · “Demonstrate and identify individual accountability while working within a team.”
This competency aligns with my course goal by focusing on:
Encouraging responsibility and self-motivation: By taking ownership of my assigned tasks, like preparing decorations independently, I developed greater self-motivation and accountability by wanting to have things done nicely. This responsibility strengthened my commitment to teamwork and showed me how being self-motivated can really enhance your work and support team success. I believe this skill is crucial for leadership, as it ensures that each members’ contributions are equally important, reliable, and effective.
Developing time management and prioritization skills: Balancing my responsibilities with club meetings taught me how to manage my time carefully and prioritize commitments effectively. For example, I would attend the meetings at lunch in room A109 for half of the time then head to the club meetings for the rest of the time. This experience allowed me to understand how to stay organized and balance multiple responsibilities. These skills would be essential for future leadership roles and real-life challenges. Learning to balance commitments strengthens my ability to make the most of my time while supporting my group.
Building strong relations: Working closely with my team on a fun and creative project made me build new and positive relationships and strengthened our teamwork. By working together on tasks like blowing up balloons, crafting decorations and setting up the photobooth, we created an enjoyable and inclusive environment. This experience taught me how working together can lead to greater work and more successful leadership.
Actions taken:
Before the event: In preparation of the event, I worked to balance my responsibilities by prioritizing tasks that would contribute effectively to the photobooth. Although I wasn’t able to attend meetings for the whole lunch due to overlapping commitments with clubs, I took accountability for my contributions by staying for half of the meeting and helping with as many decorations as I can before going to my other meeting. I stayed informed on updates through teams, ensuring I was prepared to take on specific tasks even without fully attending every meeting.
During the event: On the day of the event, I worked efficiently with the team to set up the photobooth by sticking the balloons onto the wall. I arrived early to help organize and decorate the booth, making sure it looked inviting for students. I took on the role as the photographer, using students’ cameras and phones to capture their photos. I believe it was a smooth experience for the students as they were pleased with their photos after. However, I did notice that it got crowded, and students weren’t sure if they were allowed to come up to the booth or not. I believe next time implementing a line or having a clear sign would be clearer and more concise to the students.
After the event: After the event, I helped the team tear down the decorations and pop the balloons outside. I demonstrated accountability by picking up the garbage off the floor and ensuring everything was cleaned up. Overall
Evidence:
Example 1: I was asked to come in and help with the decorations because they needed more people, even though I was just a photographer. I created the border for the Halloween sign, carefully cutting a cardboard box and lining it with plain black paper to for the theme and ensure the photobooth had a prop. I also drew large spiders and cut them out so that they could hang from the top of the photobooth. This example demonstrates my individual accountability within the team, as I took responsibility for a specific part of the decoration that contributed to the overall vibe of the photobooth. In addition, my involvement with the decorations shows how I value teamwork by contributing to the group and making the event a success.
Example 2: I took photos for students who wanted to capture memories with their friends in their costumes at the photobooth, using their phones and cameras to make sure everyone had a positive experience. This example highlights my commitment to supporting my group’s goals by actively participating in the event and making sure students felt welcome. Since I was in a costume, my friends asked if I could take a few photos with them in the cafeteria, so I stepped out shortly while it was slow. However, I got someone to fill in for me after I stepped out. I tried fulfilling my role in making the photobooth a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Example 3: I stayed to help with the event teardown, assisting in popping the balloons, picking up the garbage from the floor and packing away all decorations and equipment until the area was completely cleaned. This example reflects my individual accountability by showing that I followed through my responsibilities from start to finish. By staying to clean up, I demonstrated reliability and supported the team in cleaning up the event, and making sure everything was put back where it was supposed to be.

Spirit Assembly
For the Spirit Assembly on September 18th, I was a part of the Hype Crew. This role was to hype up the crowd and to gather energy from them. For the first part of the assembly my friends and I just stood in the crowd trying to hype people by dancing to the music.
There was some confusion about where each grade was supposed to sit so that took up some time. As the assembly started, we continued to hype people up by tossing candy out or by being energetic. For tug of war, I had to pick a few people to come down, but it was slightly chaotic because a bunch of people thought I chose them. I’d say the first part of the assembly was a bit hectic, but we managed.
For the second part of the assembly, it was more organized. We had people stand in the center of the bleachers to section off the two grades and there was better time management. For this event, I focused on communication with others, something I mentioned about achieving in my course goals. I understand that communication is an essential skill to have to make things go smoothly and effectively. Due to the spirit assembly being such a fast-paced event, communication was key, and I made sure to use this skill to ensure there was no more confusion. To summarize, this year’s spirit assembly was successful.
