My Reflection #1

This is a picture of a CO2 dragster that I made in my Power Technology and Engineering course in Q1. A CO2 dragster is a little wooden car that is powered by a carbon dioxide canister that is inserted into the back of the car. It gets punctured and the car shoots off like a rocket! It’s really cool to watch – the faster cars can go from one side of the woodshop to another in like 2 seconds!

I chose this design mostly because it is very simple and required minimal cutting. My goal while making it was to make it as realistic as possible. I think I achieved that goal, mostly because of the McDonalds sign on it. (A friend helped me with that)

One of the challenges I faced while making this car was the lines for the french fries. I had to carve them in with a chisel, and some of them aren’t as straight as I would have wanted them. Other than that, I am very proud of my car. On the back of the car, the lines of the french fries don’t continue all the way. If I did this again in the future, I would include those lines – I didn’t include them before because I thought I would run out of time.

Well, thanks for reading all about my french fry car! If you wanted to know, we had a race at the end of the quarter…my car didn’t do too well in it. I mean, what do you expect? It’s literally a wooden block…
