This was my first and only year in Leadership since I’m in grade 12, but it’s been a really important and memorable part of my high school experience. Over the year, I ran two main events. The first was a Halloween movie night back in October. Even though it was stressful and we faced some problems, working through those challenges with my team taught me a lot about what it means to be a leader. I learned that leadership isn’t just about telling people what to do, but about staying calm, listening, encouraging others, and working together to solve problems. Later, I helped run the “Movie Under the Stars” event with two other girls. That one was tough because it happened during exams and everything felt hectic, but we still made it happen. These experiences showed me how important communication, preparation, and teamwork are when leading something successfully.

Through this course, I met a lot of new people that I might not have met otherwise. I’ve grown a lot since September. I became more confident in myself and in how I talk to others. Leadership helped me become more responsible, outgoing, and open to trying new things. I learned how to handle stress better, adjust when things don’t go as planned, and be someone people can rely on and ask for help. These skills are things I plan to use in real life, whether it’s in future jobs, university projects, or just everyday situations where I need to communicate or take initiative.

Even though it was only one year, I will really cherish all the memories I made. From planning events to working behind the scenes and sharing laughs with my group, it became a big part of my grade 12 year. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown and thankful for everything this class taught me, not just about leadership, but also about myself. This year showed me that leadership is about much more than just being in charge. It’s about teamwork, growth, and connection. I’ll definitely look back on this year as a meaningful and valuable part of my high school journey:)
