Reflection 1

Family and Friends

1. Making time for family and friends. Ever I started High school, I’ve noticed how easy it is for me to get stuck in school, phones/computers, or just doing the stuff that interests me. But when I look into the before, the best memories I have are enjoying dinners with family and friends, going to parks, and so much more. I want to make more time for my friends and family. Even if it’s just sitting in the same room and talking, and I will fix this problem by limiting the time I spend on my phone. I think it matters. I want my family and friends to know I like being with them, and that they’re important to me. This goal represents how I want to get better at making time to hang out with family and friends because making memories is very important. Especially with the people you hang out with and love.

2. Being more appreciative. I always forget to say thank you when I am used to somebody always being there like my brother. But I do not want to make my family feel like I don’t appreciate them. So, Whether it’s my parents helping me with something, or my younger brother making me laugh when I’m having a not so pleasant day, I want to notice what they do for me more and say how much they mean to me. I think that a thanks” or i’m proud of you or even a hug can make a huge difference, and I want to be someone who says those things more often so that they feel appreciated and loved. I have decided that I need to improve on being more appreciative when my family or friends do something for me which is why I chose “Improving on being grateful” as one of my goals for friends and family.

3. Being more supportive. I want my friends and family to know that I can help and support them if they’re going through something, I want to be their for them, and not just when it’s easy, but when it’s hard too. So, to do that, that means checking in with them, listening to what they are saying without judging them, and showing up when they need help. I don’t have to fix everything that is happening, however, I can be someone who supports them and doesn’t disappear or be gone when things get tough for them. I chose this goal because I want to improve on helping and being there for my peers and family.

Education

1. Asking more questions Sometimes I don’t ask questions at school or at all because I’m scared of sounding weird or getting judged for not knowing something. But I’ve figured out and noticed that curiosity is one of the best things I can use for school. I want to be better at raising my hand, speaking up, and exploring topics that interest me even if they’re outside the lesson. Asking questions helps me understand things better and shows that I’m trying and thinking. I don’t want to just remember information, I want to know why things work. The reason why I chose this goal is because I want to improve in raising my hand more to answer questions I know. I will do this by raising my hand up more in class instead of keeping quiet to myself.

2. Improving time management skills. From middle school, I have always never been good at managing time, for example, whenever a teacher would give us an assignment, I would always do it on the very last day before it was due. I only realized in highschool that I needed to start finishing my assignments earlier and managing my time, which is why I chose this goal, because I want to improve in finishing my assignments on time and having better time management. To fix this problem and achieve this goal, I will start doing things earlier.

3. Learning to work harder and give up less. There are subjects that are so easy for me, and others subjects that are difficult for me. before, I’ve wanted to give up when things got difficult. But now, I want to tell myself that it’s okay to make mistakes and that learning takes time. I want to keep trying, even if I don’t get it right the first time. Whether it’s a very hard Math problem or a long essay, I want to improve at never giving up and working harder. So, the next time I have a difficult assignment like this one, I will try even harder. This goal would be a great fit for me because whenever I have to do something difficult or something that takes a lot of time, I sometimes give up.

Health

1. Improve Eating habits. Whenever I come home from school, I go straight to my pantry and grab whatever snack that I can find. Most of the snacks that I grab aren’t really the healthiest ones, which is why I want to improve on eating better. My first goal for health is to improve my eating habits and what I mean by eating habits is eating more fruits, vegetables and especially chicken.

2. Improve Sleeping habits. Sometimes I stay up too late watching videos or texting friends, and then I feel super tired the next day. I want to work on getting better sleep by going to bed earlier, putting my phone away, and giving my brain time to rest. Sleep isn’t just about feeling awake, it helps me think, stay calm, and grow, which is really important because I play basketball. I want to try to sleep more throughout the night. This goal is important to me because sleeping helps me regain my energy for the next day.

3. Getting more exercise. I spend a lot of time at school and doing assignments, and sitting all day cannot be good for me, which is why I want to exercise more. My goal by the end of grade 9 is to fit in more exercise into my schedule. I will do this by spending less time on my phone, so, the time that I spend on my phone will be used towards exercising and playing sports.
