The Assignment:

For the third assignment in digital literacy, I was tasked with using visuals to analyse the digital footprint of a celebrity. I chose to make my presentation on Cristiano Ronaldo, a professional soccer player in Italy, who also has a massive Instagram following. As the assignment required visuals, I chose to use Powerpoint to make the presentation, which can be foundĀ here.

Identify:

Before beginning the assignment, I realized that the assignment would be difficult if I needed to do a lot of research, so I chose Cristiano Ronaldo, a celebrity that I was already very familiar with, especially because I follow him on social media, so I already knew a lot about his digital footprint. As I worked on the assignment I constantly referred back to the marking rubric and made sure I had all of the required components. This improved my assignment greatly as I could make sure that all of the necessary content was included, and I went into enough detail about each topic.

Inspire:

As making visual graphs is not one of my strengths, I had to use other examples to find inspiration and give me a better idea of how to complete the assignment. One of the resources I used was the example from the teacher (attached below), which gave a good idea on what needed to be included and the general purpose of the assignment. Another resource I used to inspire was looking at other people’s completed projects through Edublogs, which was helpful as not only could I see what I thought were good ideas that I could use, I also saw some errors or ideas that were not as effective.

Interpolate:

Across all of the examples I saw, the ones that I felt were the most successful were the ones with lots of relevant pictures, so I made sure that the pictures I included helped the viewer understand the content better. Another pattern I noticed was that the celebrity’s social media presence was very well explained, which was something I also focused on doing. The most common shortcoming of the student projects I had seen were the lack of detail and being vague in the answering of the prompts so I made sure that my ideas were clearly expressed and explained in detail (example of one of my slides below).

Imagine:

After seeing many examples of the assignment, I was ready to begin the assignment. I had a lot of inspiration and I decided how I was going to structure my PowerPoint with 1 slide per prompt. A detailed explanation of the question was included with a relevant picture to support or supplement the information.

Inspect:

After completing an assignment, it is crucial to ensure that all required components are included. By reviewing the assignment and comparing it to the criteria, I made sure that the work was of the highest quality that I could produce and submitted it with confidence that I had done well because I followed the process for creative fluency. I also reflected on how I could what I had just learned and apply it into my life.
