I took this photo after I had just come from China. I enjoy playing basketball, but it is difficult for me as a new immigrant to find friends to play with. This was at town centre basketball court. As I am very shy, it was an accomplishment to approach these people that I didn’t know and play basketball with them. It makes me proud because I was able to get out of my comfort zone. If I could do it again in the future, I wouldn’t do anything differently. I would still tell myself to approach these people who share the interest of basketball and ask them to allow me to join in. The challenge was mostly that it was an uncomfortable situation that I was able to adapt to and become friends with people who were once strangers.
