November Event-Grade 9 Day

Grade 9 Day, Wednesday November 27 2024.

For this event, originally I was assigned to the Parent Teacher Interview group. However, I couldn’t do it because I had plans on the 28th. I asked my friends if they were able to switch events and I asked them if they knew anyone who was willing to switch events. I decided to switch events with another student in leadership, Sean. I was assigned to marketing for Grade 9 day. As a group, we discussed our roles and individual tasks to promote towards the grade nines. Two people were in charge of announcements, some people made vibrant and cool posters, and two people, including me, were in charge of making reels. Ms. Rioux and both of the point people for this event, Alexia and Chloe, gave some good ideas and advice for marketing. Since Khadija and I were in charge of making the reel, we had to consider what Ms. Rioux said about most grade nines not having Instagram, but we decided to generate some ideas and form what to say for the reel for the grade nines who did have Instagram so they can tell their other grade nine friends to show up for the event. We researched trends to recreate and we looked at the Pinetree Instagram for inspiration, then I decided to come up with the idea of recreating this one trend where a real estate agent runs around and gives a house tour in a sort of chaotic way. I twisted the idea so in the video, we would start with the introduction then I would announce what the activities were, where to buy Ice cream sundae bar tickets, the prizes, mostly the talking portion while Khadija would run to the places were the events were hosted at and would state more information about the event. We thought this idea was funny and creative. Laia helped with some of the filming. We spent two days filming and editing the reel then afterwards, Khadija posted it on the teams channel. I personally did inform some of my grade nine friends about this event and several of them did show up.

On the day of the event, it wasn’t necessary for marketing to show up for Grade 9 day but I decided to show up at the library during lunch for the trivia game to help out the grade nines into their groups and help them with the answers for the trivia and take pictures. After the event at lunch, I helped stack the chairs and put the tables back into their places. I couldn’t help out that much afterschool because I had extracurriculars but I would say, the event was successful and most of the grade nines enjoyed it and had fun, they especially enjoyed the Ice-cream Sundae bar.

As marketing, we had to take pictures for the Edublog and memories in general to show our teams contributions and efforts towards this event. I made sure to get all the angles and I took pictures of specific people (like the MC’s) and the grade nines. I also decided to take a group photo of everyone who helped before, during, and after the event.
