Final reflection

My leadership 11 journey has been a significant period of personal growth. From September to now, I’ve gained valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking. The programs emphasis on collaboration and problem solving, particularly during events where I learned to leverage diverse perspectives to achieve common goals.
Initially, I thought leadership would be quite overwhelming but at the same time, I have been in multiple leadership programs throughout elementary and middle school and I decided to try leadership again in grade 11 since I strive in leadership type of roles and I don’t regret it, it’s a fun environment. Especially this year, the events and the process for each one of them have been smooth and even though there were some misunderstandings, I feel like as a team, we communicated effectively. The events were creative and fun as well and majority of the people in leadership are cheerful and positive. I’m also proud of myself for being a point person for the spirit assembly during September and my willingness to put in the effort for extra events. I also suggested many ideas such as making the grade 11 day theme neon/glow in the dark. I had fun with marketing such as creating posters and reels. In the process, I connected with people that I honestly never thought of interacting with. My main takeaways include the importance of active listening, empathetic leadership, and the power of constructive criticism when needed. I can definitely say that I have experienced a lot of growth such as learning how to communicate affectively and clearly and to be more confident and straightforward to get my points across and to be more motivated. Although, if I am in leadership 12 next year, I would like to step up into more point person roles and it is my goal to at be a point person at least two times to improve and expand my leadership skills further meanwhile motivating others to achieve goals.
Because of my growth and this program, I plan to apply these skills in my future academic and professional pursuits, striving to be a collaborate and effective leader in any team environment. This experience has given me a greater confidence in my abilities and a stronger commitment to fostering positivity and productivity. Overall, it was a very good year for me in leadership and I’m excited to what the program evolves to and thank you to Mrs. Rioux and Mr. Mac for all their kindness and understanding as well as efforts to make this program fantastic for everyone!
