My First Vision Board

Vision Board Reflection

For my vision board final project, I used the online app Canva. On this board are various things and ideas for my future year and coming years.

Health:

For the health section, I put it around the left-hand side/corner of the board, including things like intake, fruits/veggies, balance, exercise, etc. These are all things I want to adjust my lifestyle around and work hard to reach, because right now I am only fulfilling two of those things. It is a set goal for me until 2023 to work on each of these things and get them running consecutively at some point. I feel that if I work on each of these things, not only would my physical health improve, but my emotional and mental as well. Going outside or exercising is big on my list, due to how I have been avoiding that for quite a while now. Listening to music really helps me manage my stress and being able to work in order/productively is what keeps me in check.

Education/Wealth:

Things I want to work on academically are keeping my grades up, working productively, and using my time wisely. These have been goals for me ever since school was in the conception of my mind, but now I am starting to take it more seriously. If I work on these areas effectively, I want to aim for UBC Sauder or Law school, as those two things interest me the most. As for now, I have a part time job, and this is to keep myself motivated and in check of the things I love the most. Having a part time job and managing many other things at once may be overwhelming at times, but I enjoy keeping myself busy and it is what I do best sometimes. I would like to keep a part time job throughout high school and work my way up with smaller organizations next.

Relationships:

Maintaining healthy relationships throughout life is the main idea for me all the time. Whether it is with family or friends, that is key goal. To maintain and strengthen my relationships with my family, I want my family to get back into the habit of traveling (paused for around 2 years due to covid) and spend more overall quality time together. This also goes with my friends as well and seeing them often enough to maintain healthy friendships. Throughout the school year I have made many new friends and met unfamiliar faces, which I am proud of, because I tend to weigh on the more introverted spectrum. Spending quality time with these people is important, and to have quality time, I want to start putting my phone down around these people and really appreciate them and their time with me!

Happiness:

My own mental health and happiness has always been ignored or pushed aside by myself due to how it was not as “important” as other things, but I am slowly coming to the realization that I need to keep my mental health and happiness in check to be the best version of myself around others. I find happiness and comfort hanging around with friends (shown in top right) or listening/playing music as those are big hobbies of mine. I want to explore my hobbies and learn/try out new things to see what I enjoy or dislike. I feel that I am currently playing it very safe, staying in my own little bubble, but I think that if I try new things, I might actually really enjoy these things!

Reflection 1 – My goals for This Year

Goals for next month:

  1. friends and family – to eat meals or at least dinner with my family, or people who are home. (It’s likely that I never eat with my family and eat on my own time, but to build a better relationship with my family, I would like to eat with my family and talk to them during dinner or lunch.)
  2. education – to be able to know my priorities in classes, work and assignments to get them done in the ideal order. (This is a goal I’ve been struggling with for many months. I tend to do easy assignments first and push all difficult ones away which causes stress buildup once I’m done procrastinating. I would like to push myself to do my work in proper order so that I can feel better and do better in my classes.)
  3. health – limiting my screen time on school days/nights to get better rest and to feel more refreshed throughout the day. (I believe that this may take a little over a month to get the hang of, but more than a goal, it’s a lifestyle I want to achieve due to how it’s become a habit to constantly be using my phone or device, even due to covid. And I think that it’s slowly reaching the point where it’s becoming addicting and fairly unhealthy, so I will try my hardest to work towards this goal and try to achieve it by the end of the month.)

Goals for this semester:

  1. friends and family – keeping healthy and strong relationships with friends and meeting up with friends every once in a while. (It’s become important to me that keeping strong friendships will help me academically, socially and mentally. To maintain proper and healthy relationships, I choose to not only prioritize schoolwork and hobbies but also friends.)
  2. education – studying/doing my homework right when I get home, and being more productive with my time. (This goal seems important to me, but I always tend to ignore it out of poor habits. Being productive is something I want to work on since I believe that I can succeed and become better and have a healthier lifestyle if I were to prioritize my work over certain activities.)
  3. health – drinking about 2.5L of water per day, staying hydrated especially on warmer days. (When I get busy or hooked onto something, it’s most likely I forget to take care of myself properly such as drinking water or eating regularly! I get dehydrated easily so even taking this smaller step will help my health a lot and I look forward to reminding myself to drink water every once in a while.)

Goals for the whole year:

  1. friends and family – get out of my comfort zone and create new and different friends and friend groups. (I know that I have the skills to go and interact with new and different people who aren’t my usual friends, but I always ignore it. This year, I choose to take the opportunities to make new and different friends and get to know other people.)
  2. education – being able to show my work in different perspectives, becoming more engaged with my work and learning and showing my understanding in depth. (I believe that I can push myself throughout these two semesters to focus on understanding my work properly and not just skimming through it to get it done quickly, and prioritizing quality in my work so I can not only learn better but show my understanding better as well.)
  3. health – focusing on getting 8-9 hours of sleep every night, avoid taking naps throughout the day and keeping my sleep schedule healthy and intact. (Sleep is one of the largest things I lack which causes me to be fatigued and unwell during busy and slow times. I want to focus on sleeping earlier and getting a healthy amount of sleep instead of cutting it out due to distractions at night. Avoiding naps and messing up that sleep schedule will also be something else I’m looking out for during this time.)♥
