About Me

INTRODUCTION: 『••✎••』

Hello! ( ̄O ̄)ノ I’m Jaycee and am Filipino-Canadian : D I enjoy music from all varieties, my top favourite genres being hip-hop/rap, R&B, (k-?) pop and jazz. My main interests are social studies, history, linguistics, documentaries, cooking, procrastinating, guitar and above all, drawing. All my illustrations consist of characters from various franchises I follow or am inspired by.

These days, my top priority is improving my drawing skills, surviving school and getting through whatever life decides to pull on me (-, – )…

FAVOURITE QUOTE:

“I can’t pog through the pain.”

‘Pog’ in this context, means to power through the hardships you face in life. No matter how difficult and insufferable it seems, you will get through it. It originates from the emote ‘PogChamp’ from streaming platform Twitch, used as an indication for excitement or a replacement for expressions like “cool” or “amazing!”.

The sentence is a perfect explanation of my current situation in a nutshell, which is why I give it the title for my favourite quote.

FAVOURITE: YOUTUBE VIDEO

There are many to pick from which I hold the same level of fascination, but this one sparked attentiveness in me to post as my ‘Favorite’ YouTube video.

I am very enthusiastic about history, especially events and culture from the 20th century. I came across a series of episodes from “The World We Want”, a television program broadcasted during the 50s, showcasing student delegates from an international student exchange program that existed from 1942 to 1972. The high school delegates were put into panels of 4 or 5 to converse relevant issues for a run-time of about 30 minutes.

This episode is one of my favourites, starring delegates from Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Japan and the Philippines under the topic of prejudice. My affinity for it stems from the choice of subject discussion and how well-represented my country, the Philippines, is by student Raul Contreras, who spoke with excellent intelligence and English alongside the rest of the outstanding cast, at only 15 years of age.

FAVOURITE IMAGE:

“Gusto kong sumabog at magsabi ng masasamang mga salita.”

Translated from Filipino to English, it reads; “I want to explode and say bad words.” I believe the reason I chose this is image is self-explanatory.

FAVOURITE: WEBSITE (I am ashame d…))

I visit it often to browse lots of cool fanart and independent illustrations that I’m not able to view elsewhere. Though I am aware of the prevalent toxicity the platform is known for, if you look in the right places, there are small, nice pockets of very friendly communities. (Maybe it’s because I’m on Asia Twitter and stray away from American Twitter haha)
