Independent Novel Study Assignment #10

How ‘Dr. Sunshine Is Dead’ by Will Wood relates to ‘The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon’ …

1: When did I become afraid of the dark? Was it when I left the cave and swore I'd never go back?!2: If we can't see each other, then there's no more use for hiding, I've decided I'll abide it, why deny the colour black?3: I'm not a flower, not a solar-powered calculator, damn my eyes for seeing what's not there4: I'll trade in vision for a practiced intuition 'till my fears come to fruition, I'm not scared

1: Trisha had found the dark woods terrifying for the beginning of the 9 days lost. She had points in which she would cry, remembering the horror, but otherwise had her hallucination of Tom Gordon to assist her.
2: This is further in regard to her hallucinations. At some point she was scared of what she was seeing and found them extremely terrifying, but then closing to the last few days she learned to make the most of the company.
3: Referenced many times throughout the novel, Trisha could sense the Wendigo lurking. Sometimes she would exclaim that she could see it moving around. Whenever the movements dulled, she felt it was only a bad thought and passed it off until her next encounter.
4: I feel like this connects to the point in the story where Trisha has, at least partially, forgotten how scared she was being alone in the forest. She would trade in the company of hallucinations for reality, disregarding her fright.
