My First Vision Board

Vision Board 2022

Health: I will be focusing mainly on sleeping, eating, and exercising for my health. Get ready to sleep around 9 pm, drink water every day, eat fruits and vegetables, exercise like running or swimming.  These also tie into my past goals.

Education (Wealth): My vision board includes the word “university,” but not which one exactly. This means I am still looking for an option. This year I have a lot of space to improve in physics, I like the subject and wish to study further. I will also be preparing for Japanese, which is coming next year. I am starting to do volunteer work and am planning to save up for myself through a part-time job. I hope that next semester I achieve higher grades with enjoyment of learning. This is also one of my goals.

Relationships: I will keep calling or using the Facetime tool on my device to stay in contact with my family and friends who live in different countries. During festivals and holidays, I always give my relatives gifts and cards. It’s a way to maintain social bonds and make them happy. My friends and I have held a few parties in the past. They were good memories and a good way to make us closer. I look forward to doing activities like those with them. I wish to meet new souls that I can share with and have fun with.

Happiness: In my free time, I like doing crafts and DIYs, I also like taking pictures to capture some moments in life. I enjoy playing a video game called Sky. There’s a character picture from the game to the right of my DIY image. I would also do baking in my free time because it makes me relax.

My Plan for Screen Time

Assignment 4 My Plan for Screen Time

Health: I will be walking to school and back home every day. (30 minutes/day)

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I go to the park and jog. (1 hour/each time)

Every day after school, I do indoor activities like yoga, stretches, planks etc. (40 minutes each time).

In total, I will focus on my health and exercise for 7 hours and 50 minutes per week.

Doing activities helps me to be stronger and healthier, and even helps with my learning and sleeping. It can make me more concentrated when doing things, and if I’m tired, I fall asleep very quickly.

Education: Every day I do my homework when I have spare time at school and at home. (1 hour/day)

Review things I learned from classes, so I will memorize them better and strengthen my knowledge. (30min/day)

Preview things for example go into the next few pages in my science book, so I will get the basic idea of what I will be looking for the next day. (30min/day)

Every night before I go to bed, read books. It’s better to look at things on paper rather than using devices since blue light disrupted our quality of going to sleep. I will also remember the content in the book better since our brian store information when we are sleeping, reading will be the last activity I did. (40 minutes/day)

In total, I will take care of my education for 18 hours and 40 minutes a week.

These activities help me stay on task and always know what I need to prepare for.

Social Bonds: I chat with my family every day share what happened at school, and what things I learned, and ask how their day was, these can occur during the time after dinner. This will make us better connected and we will be able to share information. (1 hour/day)

I will go to friends and teachers that I didn’t see for a long time at school, say hi to them and ask how it’s been for their semester or any fun things we could share. I will be able to do these during lunchtime, after school, or in class if our teacher allows us to chat. (about 5min/day for each person I talk to)

Communicate with friends, peers, and teachers in-person/online about any questions I have. I chat with friends mostly online or when we are walking to school together. I will be able to ask my teachers questions before class or during ESS block. It’s more clear for me to ask my teachers directly instead of emailing the. (1 hour/day)

Call or face time with friends and family in another country during the weekends. Due to covid, it’s hard for me to travel back to China, to make up the time I missed spending with some of my friends and family members, face time works best for me. (2 hours each time).

In total, I will spend about 18 hours a week on my social bonds.

Having a good social bond provides me with positive mental health. It’s how I make connections with others.

STOPPING RULES

School: When I’m in my classrooms, I mute all my devices and put them away unless the teachers allow me to use them. I won’t be disturbed by the notifications, I can focus on my course and won’t disturb my classmates either. No earphones when my teachers or classmates are talking, I must pay full attention to what they are saying, so I don’t have to ask again and waste their time.

Home: When chatting or eating at home, I put my devices away. Electronics highly disturb me during certain activities. I might not pay attention to who I’m talking with, which would make them feel unrespected. And it’s very harmful to my body if I use a device when eating, since both my brain and stomach need blood to work properly. Return all my devices to my parents after 10 pm (like what I used to do). This will help me fall asleep quicker as there will be no blue light 1 hour before bed.

Reflection 1 – My Goals for This Year.

Family and friends

1. Recognizing people I know before but haven’t talked to for long. To achieve this, I can start with simply saying hi if I see them somewhere in or out of the school ground.

2. Get to know more people in all of my blocks and be nice to others. To achieve this, I can introduce myself to others if when I get a chance and ask their names, which is the first step of knowing new people. When someone around tries my best to have a kind facial emotion and to not make myself too unfriendly because that might give others bad feelings. Say hi and goodbye, be polite and leave everyone their comfortable social distance during the special time.

3. Fasten relationships with family members and friends. To achieve this I will call family members/friends consistently especially the ones that I don’t get to see. Call them at least once a week, let them know how I’m doing, and share with them the fun things that happened around my life or the sad ones… Also through activities like taking walks outside, play sports with friends like tennis, frisbee, basketball…etc

Education

1. Complete all my works on time and write them as neat as possible. To achieve this, I will record down my plans every day, so I will have in mind what I will need to finish when I get home. Use time wisely by doing harder assignments first. Avoid rushing through works, always remember quality over quantity. When I think I completed everything, check over things again in case “accidents” happen(missed something).

2. Get to know all teachers, and let them know what I’m good at and what areas I might need more help on. To achieve this: When at classes, be as much active as possible, like answering questions, responding to teachers at the right time, ask questions when I don’t understand something, etc… Letting my teachers know me better is the best way to support learning since they will know my pros and cons for that subject.

3. Put all my efforts into my courses and reach for the highest grades. To achieve this, generally, all courses have assignments I need to do them well and check if I missed some of them. Specifically for each course: Math, since this year I got into honors it’s more challenging, so I need to work harder and practice more. Ask questions when I’m having trouble understanding something, and review all lessons, and practice any question I did wrong on quizzes and tests if I got any. Review units consistently. be prepared with tests/quizzes. Japanese: Practice by repeating sentences learned in class every day, practice the Hiragana chart, check the Japanese website in which Sensei posts homework every day, and ask questions when not understanding instructions. ICT9, always up to date on what needs to be done, read class note book carefully to understand the concepts, ask when having trouble with technology.

By the end of the year, my goal is to be prepared for grade ten. to achieve that, I must work my way up, step by step during grade nine. (like all the ones I mentioned above.)

Health

1. Scheduled time for bed and time in the morning to wake up. Make sure that all homework is done so I won’t spend my time late at night finishing something or interrupting the time I originally had planned for something else. Set a timer if I can’t keep track that well. Ask my parents to cooperate with me, like notice me about the time, if it’s already too late or others.

2. Keeping exercising and stay active. Exercise every day by activities like walking, running, tennis, dance, badminton, ultimate, etc… Set timers if possible, in case I overwork or do the opposite. Get someone with me like a friend or my parents to keep the habit. When I’m not alone doing something, it’s harder to give up.

3. Mindfulness, don’t over-stress even when big assignments tests are coming up, work/study rest, and play, one by one and separately. Relax by doing sports listen to music, sleep, etc. Work with regular amounts of time, if too busy don’t overwork, separate the time of doing assignments into smaller sections. For example, work half an hour and relax for ten minutes… Stay scheduled so nothing much can be interrupted at school or home even coming to a very busy time like near the end of the year.
