Independent Novel Study Assignment #13
Critique of the entire novel, ‘The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon’…
Starting this off by saying I enjoyed the novel. I love the eerie description Stephen King gave of Trisha's surroundings, experiences, and feelings. He used descriptive language that kept me interested but not so much I would have to hold a dictionary. I began skimming pages after the very beginning due to the story lacking any real plot while Trisha was in the forest. It became repetitive quickly, King describing the scenery with every synonym in the book. It seemed as if I was reading one big book about what a forest looks like. I wish King would have made some interesting side-plots to go alongside Trisha's stay in the woods to keep the reader involved in the story.
