Cuneiform Activity

How do you think using this form of writing (a language) affected how people communicated with each other, in person and writing?

Using cuneiform opened many different ways that allowed people to communicate with each other. It helped them keep records of things like transactions, laws, historical events, and stories, that would be able to be passed down to future generations.

Do you think this version of “text” would have affected people’s lives? How would this be the case?

I think this version of “text” would have affected people’s lives greatly. This would be the case because record keeping allows them to keep track of things that were traded or bought, making their lives much simpler and allowing them to do more. Being able to record laws would have brought more order and control over the people making it more civilized and safer. Stories, poetry and literature being written down is important because it is a large piece of history. Some of those pieces of literature even shaped how we talk and communicate today.

What form of text do you use in your life that affects people’s lives?

One form of text I use in my life that affects other people’s lives is through talking. I am an avid believer that simple communication strengthens and solidifies your relationship with others, including friends, family, and loved ones. Talking is considered a “text” in this context because of how I do it. I am very clear with my words and make my opinions known which I have seen makes for healthier relationships with everyone else in my life.
