Tours for International Students

In this event, I volunteered to give tours to new students who were primarily international students. As this event was before school had opened from summer break, I was unaware of leadership expectations for the year. However, I had previously taken leadership 11, so I had a good grasp on how to be a positive role model and how the event should run. We were essentially broken into groups where there were 2 leadership students per group. My partner and I took turns explaining each part of the school, and we made sure to include a little more about the student life at Pinetree. During the middle of the tour, I helped a student who came late, and I gave them a tour while my partner took our group to complete the tour. In the end, we gathered everyone by the office to receive their schedules and locker information. During this time, we got to interact more with the international students by asking them where they are from and how they are liking Canada so far. Ultimately, I found this event to be very exciting as I got to interact with some new students and give them a good understanding of how welcoming the Pinetree community is.
