Final Grade and Justification

Due to my cumulative engagement, efforts, and personal growth since the start of the course, I think I deserve a final grade between 95% – 96%. I feel that I improved a little bit because I was able to go outside my comfort zone and achieve the goal I set for myself at midterms. I think I deserve this mark because I have attended almost all the leadership meetings where I only missed one and I made sure to contact Ms.Rioux as soon as possible to let her know. During the meetings, I made sure not to distract others and pay close attention to what is being said. I dedicated myself to volunteering for every leadership event that I could fit into my personal schedule and sometimes even shifting my own schedule to attend certain events. I was also responsible and reliable where everything that I had signed up for, I had attended. This is because I tried putting myself in the point person’s shoes where I know how frustrating it can be to expect someone to complete their task but then not show up.

For the events, I would strive to be helpful. I would actually get work done without people telling me what to do, instead of just standing around doing nothing. When I was done with my tasks, I would go around helping other groups. For example, Yuna and I were done setting up the entertainment room early for Spring Fling, where we walked around to see if any other groups needed help. I was also very committed to improving my ability to lead since midterms which I also mentioned in my course reflection. Achieving my personal goal of being a point person for at least 1 event (Valentine’s Day spirit event) opened my eyes to new communication and collaboration skills because it was a different experience leading than being a group member. I was able to better communicate with my peers in leadership and connect with them to achieve a common objective after having the point person experience.
