Looking back on my Grade 12 year, I came to realize that most of my fondest memories of high school came from Leadership. I found that volunteering for events was actually a lot more fun than participating in them as a regular student because you get to spend more time with others behind the scenes and watch everything that you planned unfold. Another realization I had when reflecting was just how much I had changed in one year. It was crazy to me how I went from a shy kid who would rarely talk, to someone who would scream my lungs out at Spring Fling karaoke just to get students hyped up. Leadership taught me way more than I ever thought I would learn when coming into this course. Along with communication, problem solving skills, and the ability to take initiative, I learned that a key skill to being a good leader, is to lead by example. This led to me having a lot more fun during the events I would volunteer at, since I would push myself to be happy and bubbly to spread the mood. This inevitably shifted my personality to be almost more extroverted than introverted, which is something that would never happen in any other situation. I am so glad I decided to join this course,] and although I regret being unable to accomplish my goal of being a point person, I can confidently say that I have no regrets and that Leadership was an extremely rewarding experience.
